Tenants of The Leung Tenants’ Council are facing an Ellis Act Eviction. A family with children as well as a pandemic-disaffected union worker are at risk of losing their home of over 14 years. The landlords, Melanie and Lawrence Leung own multiple properties in San Francisco and have neglected maintenance and building upkeep for these tenants and are trying to evict this household. Tenants under Melanie and Lawrence have come together to create the The Leung Tenants’ Council to fight for our rights as tenants and to make sure no one loses their housing!

I understand that you have refused their humane requests for remaining in their homes. These tenants have been affected by the Covid crisis and should be treated with respect. They are more vulnerable than wealthy landlords like you. I am urging you to take action right now and to reverse the eviction proceedings against your tenants and allow them to stay in their home. Housing is a human right. No one should be evicted, especially during a pandemic.”
